Gel Ball Grow Guide
Welcome to the sport!
This guide is designed to give you a thorough understanding of how to grow and store the range of Ausgel Gel Balls. Gel balls need to be hyrdrated (grown) in water before they can be used in your Gel Blaster. It is important to note that different gel blasters will work better with different gel balls. There are however, some generic tips on what not to do, as follows:
DO NOT:
X Store gels in freezer. Contrary to popular belief, this will not make your gels harder. Freezing will make your gels brittle and more prone to breaking when firing your blaster.
X Add dish washing liquid or any other lubricant to the water - this can damage your blaster internals.
X Add food colouring or dye to your grow water. You will really annoy other gel ballers if they can't wash the colour out of their clothes.
X Attempt to use hardening agents - this will usually cause your gels to warp. If you want hard gels, use our Ultras.
X Use anything other than gels in your gel blaster.
X Eat the gels. Although they are non-toxic, they will grow in size when hydrated in liquid.

ITEMS YOU WILL NEED:
  • Clean water. Demineralised water is best (available from Bunnings), clean tap water is fine but you should avoid using rainwater. Bottled water is also a great option.
  • Something to grow the gels in. This could be a bucket, eski or any kind of tub that can hold at least 3 litres of water.
  • Something to store the gels in. Airtight containers are best from any super market or home ware store.
  • A sieve or sifter to drain the water from gels prior to use.
  • Optional (for best results): A fish tank filter and pump to keep the water agitated during the grow.
  • For Ultras: A timer, whether it be your phone or clock.
  • Optional: A food thermometer.

Ausgel Armour Tech Ultra Gels

This range of gels should not be used by new gel ballers. They are designed for use in modified blasters pushing above 300 fps. If an Ultra Gel gets stuck in your barrel, you need the blaster to be strong enough to clear the blockage.

Step 1: Pour at least 2 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container, then turn on your filter/pump (if you have one), making sure the pump is fully submerged. Water should be at 21 - 23 degrees if possible.

Step 2: Pour 1 packet of AT Ultra Gels into the CLEAN water.

  • It is best if the grow container is wide as the gels can deform slightly if they have too much weight from other gels on top.
  • Using a filter/pump in step 1 will help with this.
  • If you do not have a pump, agitate the water every 30 minutes (if you are growing in a bottle, turn the bottle).

Step 3: Allow the gels to grow as per below:

  • 2 hours 30 minutes - for 7.0mm - 7.2mm sized gels
  • 3 hours - for 7.3mm sized gels
  • 3 hours 30 minutes - for 7.4mm sized gels
  • 4 hours - for 7.5mm sized gels

Step 4: Remove the gels from water using a sieve. They are now ready for use in your gel blaster.

Step 5: AT Ultra gels should be stored in an airtight container, away from heat sources or direct sunlight. If the container is not airtight, the gels will deform. They can be stored for further use for up to 6 months.

Ausgel Armour Tech (White/Yellow/Green) Gels

This range of gels is designed for use in all blasters up to 320 fps.

Step 1: Pour at least 3 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container. Water should be at 21 - 23 degrees if possible.

Step 2: Pour 1 packet of AT Gels into the CLEAN water.

Step 3: Allow the gels to grow for at least 4 hours.

Step 4: Remove the gels from water using a sieve. They are now ready for use in your gel blaster.

Step 5: Armour Tech Green/Yellow/White gels can be stored dry in an airtight container, or submerged in water, for further use for up to 6 months. If storing in water, change the water weekly.

Ausgel Super (White/Blue/Orange/Pink) Gels

This range of gels is designed for use in all blasters up to 300 fps and are slightly more consistent than original gels.

Step 1: Pour at least 3 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container. Water should be at 21 - 23 degrees if possible.

Step 2: Pour 1 packet of Super Gels into the CLEAN water.

Step 3: Allow the gels to grow for at least 4 hours.

Step 4: Remove the gels from water using a sieve. They are now ready for use in your gel blaster.

Step 5: Super gels should be stored submerged in water, for further use for up to 4 months. Remember to change the water weekly.

Ausgel Original Hardened (Green/Blue/Orange) Gels

This range of gels is designed for use in all blasters up to 300 fps and are perfect for use as hire blaster gels for fields.

Step 1: Pour at least 2 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container. Water should be at 21 - 23 degrees if possible.

Step 2: Pour 1 packet of Original Gels into the CLEAN water.

Step 3: Allow the gels to grow for at least 3 hours 30 minutes.

Step 4: Remove the gels from water using a sieve. They are now ready for use in your gel blaster.

Step 5: Original gels should be stored submerged in water, for further use for up to 12 months. Remember to change the water weekly.
