Gel Ball Grow Guide
Welcome to the sport!
This guide is designed to give you a thorough understanding of how to grow and store the range of Ausgel Gel Balls. Gel balls need to be hyrdrated (grown) in water before they can be used in your Gel Blaster. It is important to note that different gel blasters will work better with different gel balls. There are however, some generic tips on what not to do, as follows:
DO NOT:
X Store gels in freezer. Contrary to popular belief, this will not make your gels harder. Freezing will make your gels brittle and more prone to breaking when firing your blaster.
X Add dish washing liquid or any other lubricant to the water - this can damage your blaster internals.
X Add food colouring or dye to your grow water. You will really annoy other gel ballers if they can't wash the colour out of their clothes.
X Attempt to use hardening agents - this will usually cause your gels to warp. If you want hard gels, use our Ultras.
X Use anything other than gels in your gel blaster.
X Eat the gels. Although they are non-toxic, they will grow in size when hydrated in liquid.
ITEMS YOU WILL NEED:
- Clean water. Demineralised water is best (available from Bunnings), clean tap water is fine but you should avoid using rainwater. Bottled water is also a great option.
- Something to grow the gels in. This could be a bucket, eski or any kind of tub that can hold at least 3 litres of water.
- Something to store the gels in. Airtight containers are best from any super market or home ware store.
- A sieve or sifter to drain the water from gels prior to use.
- Optional (for best results): A fish tank filter and pump to keep the water agitated during the grow.
- For Ultras: A timer, whether it be your phone or clock.
- Optional: A food thermometer.
Ausgel Armour Tech Ultra Gels (Standard and Strawberry Milkshake)
Ultra gels are designed for use in modified blasters pushing above 300 fps.
Step 1: Pour at least 2 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container then add 1 packet of Armour Tech Ultra/Pink/Red gels.
Step 2: Allow the gels to grow as per below:
- 3 - 3.5 hours - for 7.3mm sized gels
- 4 hours + for 7.4mm sized gels
Step 4: Remove the gels from water. They are now ready for use in your gel blaster.
Step 5: AT Ultra gels should be stored in an airtight container, away from heat sources or direct sunlight. If the container is not airtight, the gels will deform. They can be stored for further use for up to 6 months. Pink and Red Ultras can be stored in water.
Ausgel Armour Tech White Pearl
Step 1: Pour at least 2 litres of CLEAN water into your grow container, then add 1 packet of Armour Tech White Pearl gels (in dry form).
Step 2: Allow gels to grow as per below:
- 1 Hour for 6mm gels
- 1.5 Hours for 6.9 – 7.1mm gels
- 3.5 Hours for 7.2 – 7.5mm gels (RECOMMENDED)
Step 3: Remove gels from water – they are now ready to use in your gel blaster.
Notes: If using in a CO2 Blaster, white pearls should be used within 48 hours. White pearls that have been grown for 3 hours or less, should be stored in an airtight container. Gels grown for 3.5 hours or more can be stored in water, but will swell to 7.5-7.6mm and lose some strength, so it is recommended to grow the White Pearl gels for same or next day use.
